The Adventure

This Is Not a Tour

The Sand Seas of the Maghreb is our most adrenaline-filled adventure, a true driving challenge through the most diverse landscapes we offer. This region hosted the Dakar Rally, the Marathon des Sables, and the Rally du Maroc. We stay well off the tourist track, forging our own path through the Oued Draa valley on the Algerian border.

In the desert we keep things pure and self-sufficient: wild camping, cooking over fire, buying supplies together in the last village before the sand. Challenging enough to test experienced off-roaders. Designed so complete beginners can do it. You'll leave with a story you'll tell for years.

YOU DRIVE.
WE COACH.
YOU LEARN.

Your founder-guide leads the convoy in Car 1, picking lines, reading the terrain, and calling instructions over the radio. You drive your own line and make the same calls he does. By the end of the week you'll be doing things you genuinely didn't think you were capable of.

01
You drive. We coach.
This isn't a tour where you follow a minibus. You're in control of a proper 4×4, with your guide leading the convoy and coaching over the radio from day one.
02
Friends. Fire. Freedom.
We set up our own tents, take turns cooking, and shop for supplies together in the last village before the desert. This is a crew, not a tour group.
03
Any experience level.
Never driven off-road, wild camped, or been to Africa? You're in excellent company. Equally, experienced off-roaders will find this a genuine adrenaline-filled challenge.

The Route

A Week. Off the Map.

Not a minibus to a luxury dune camp. Not a convoy on the main piste. We try to stay off existing tracks as much as possible, the exact route shifts with wind, terrain, and what the desert gives us. Below is the shape of the week.

What People Say

"It's like a skiing holiday except you're surfing the dunes in a Land Cruiser and wearing shorts."

Adam — VP Product

"I'd never driven off-road, never wild camped, never been to Africa. By day three I was pulling other cars out of the sand. The desert hangover is absolutely real."

Common Questions

FAQs

Do I need off-road experience?
None needed. Your guide covers the fundamentals on day one: tyre pressures, reading terrain, dune technique, vehicle recovery. By day two you're doing it for real.
Can I come solo?
Absolutely. Solo travellers are paired with another solo guest for the vehicle and, if you want, the hotel room (or upgrade to a private room for £150). The small group size means you're never the odd one out.
What if I've never camped before?
Wild camping in the Sahara is nothing like a soggy UK campsite. We pick dunes, not campsites. Tents and mats available to borrow.
What flights should I book?
Fly into Marrakech (RAK).

Easter 2027: we pick you up in Marrakech on the morning of Sat 27 Mar, so fly in on Fri 26 Mar. We drop you back in Marrakech on the afternoon of Sat 3 Apr, so fly home that evening or on Sun 4 Apr.
Oct 2026 (sold out): flight guidance for booked guests is in the briefing PDF and your pre-departure pack.

You are welcome to fly in earlier or stay on later to explore Marrakech. We send the full pre-departure pack with recommended flights once you book.
Flying from the US?
Easier than you'd think. Royal Air Maroc flies year-round from New York (JFK), Washington (IAD), Miami and Boston to Casablanca, with a short connection on to Marrakech. United runs a seasonal winter nonstop from Newark to Marrakech, and one-stop options via Lisbon, Paris and Madrid run daily from most East Coast airports. Fly out on Thu 25 or Fri 26 Mar and you're on the dunes that weekend.
Is this family-friendly?
It can be. We take children from age 6 and above. Kids love the desert, it gives them enormous freedom to explore.
